Gourmet Food Vs. Fast Food. A Poor Man's Perspective

views the best pictures

Fast food - bottom line.... It's cheap. The majority of the world in developed countries have a major issue going on with obesity and fast food is one of the top contributing factors. The economy around the world is suffering right now so it is directly affecting the every day man. When you are single or have a small family and you have the choice between spending $20 on fast food or $100 on a nice restaurant, which would you go for? Nobody wants to sit at home and have the same cooked foods day in and day out so the appeal of eating out is always there. In fact, when I was a kid, it was a HUGE thing getting to run out to Micky D's for a hamburger and french fries...it was almost like Christmas!

However, when you identify fast food for what it is. A deep fried mess the appeal begins to fade away. As great as a quick burger and fries is at the moment, eventually the adverse health benefits begin to set in. Obesity, cholesterol, stomach problems all of these are attributed to fast food. So, if this is the route you have your family going down, prepare to take the good with the bad

Gourmet food - first words that comes to mind Freakin' expensive. Second words that comes to mind. Absolutely delicious! A well prepared gourmet meal is the equivalent of a magical journey for your palette. The chefs that are around the world at the moment are creating some of the most amazing and creative dishes in the history of the gourmet world. They do however come with quite a hefty price tag. A genuine gourmet meal by one of today's top chefs can range between $100 - $300 per plate. Sounds crazy, huh? The quality of the food though and the experience of the meal itself is well worth it though. Unfortunately, it doesn't sit well for the majority of us. It's a lot of money to pull out for something that is going to literally be down the toilet in just a few hours.

So, where do we find the happy median between the two? Pre-cooked gourmet foods! Now we're heading in the right direction. I'm not talking about a frozen dinner you pop in the microwave for a few minutes and hope for the best. I'm talking about genuine gourmet foods prepared in a state of the art kitchen and then individually packed. This service has been available for quite a few years now, but not many people are aware of it, I think. I've actually just been exposed to it myself recently. It's absolutely fabulous! The problem here is that not a lot of places are offering this service yet. Take a look through Google and find a place close to you and get the chance to experience the best of both world
